Writers Groups

  • Do you have a book you want to write but don’t know where to begin?
  • Are you having trouble feeling inspired and keeping your own deadlines?
  • Are you eager for feedback on your latest chapter but don’t want to ask a family member or friend?
  • Do you enjoy the solitude that comes with writing but crave a sense of community?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, consider joining a writing group. You can find a wide range of opportunities online or at your local public library or bookstore.

If you live in the Charleston, South Carolina area, consider joining one of Mary’s writing groups. Each group meets once a month. Members read and edit the other participants’ manuscripts before the meeting. Then, in person, writers share their feedback, encourage each other, and help keep one another on track. Current membership includes a wide range of people, including a scientist, a musician, a housewife, business women, a human resources specialist, a chef, and a grandmother.

The fee is $50 per session. For this you receive a professionally edited copy of ten pages of your manuscript, written and oral feedback from other writers, and a two-hour professionally facilitated writers meeting every month. If you would like to learn more, please call Mary at 843-327-1835.
